"Chanukah"

"Chanukah" (Judaism)

The eight-day celebration of the victory of the Jewish People at about 165 B.C.E., led by the Chashmonaim, over the Greeks and their Hellenist allies. It also involved the purification of the Temple, aided by the Miracle of the Oil, whereby an amount of oil sufficient for only one day miraculously lasted for eight days.
