AUM

AUM (Agriculture)

(animal science) Animal Unit Month. The amount of forage required by a mature cow (or other grazing animal) and her calf for one month.


AUM (Ayurvedic)

Also said as OM, the god's name has in itself the sounds for all omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence. A, U, M, represent the outer, the inner, and the super conscious stages of consciousness, waking, dream, and the state of extreme sleep.


AUM (Classic Yoga)

(Sk.). The sacred syllable, the triple-lettered unit; hence the trinity in one. (TG)
Why say Aum, when it is possible to say prayer? In substance they are the same, but because of its antiquity and refinement the sound Aum will be the stronger in its vibration. (AUM, 25)
Besides the many definitions of the word AUM let us recollect that: A is Thought - the Basis; U is Light - the Primary Cause; M is Mystery - the Sacred. (AUM, 132)

The sacred sound and symbol which represents Brahman in its unmanifest and manifest aspects
