Adjuvant Therapy (Female Health)

During cancer treatment, additional or adjuvant treatment is given to destroy any cancer cells that may have spread. Adjuvant treatment is usually systemic, meaning a treatment that affects the entire body. This allows the treatment to attack cancerous cells wherever they are present. The most common example of adjuvant therapy is chemotherapy given after a tumour has been surgically removed.


Adjuvant Therapy (HIV and AIDs)

A secondary therapy that is intended to improve the outcome of primary therapy. For example, after removing a cancerous tumor (primary therapy), CHEMOTHERAPY is often used as adjuvant therapy.


Adjuvant Therapy (Lymphoma)

Adjuvant therapy is treatment given in addition to the primary treatment. Such therapy may be given to increase the effectiveness of the primary treatment or to prevent the spread or recurrence of cancer, or may consist of the use of a substance to enhance the body's immune response. Adjuvant therapy may be chemotherapy, radiation therapy or hormone therapy.
