AFC (Automatic Frequency Control )-- Circuitry in a tuner that compensates for drift in the tuning characteristics of a tuner (perhaps due to heat) or even compensates for drift in the frequency transmitted by a station, thus keeping the station tuned in correctly. Typically AGC identifies a particular frequency transmitted by a station specifically for AGC purposes and locks the receiving circuits onto that frequency.
