Aerobic Respiration

For Aerobic Respiration we have terms and definitions in 3 topics. The topics are Atmospheric Chemistry, Cancer and Huntingtons Disease.

Aerobic Respiration (Atmospheric Chemistry)

Organisms utilize oxygen to break down components, derive energy, and generate needed biomolecules. Carbohydrates are cycled into water and carbon dioxide. [Applied and Environmental Microbiology; v59n9; pages 2918-2926; 1993.] [Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States America; v89n22; pages 10842-10846; 1992.]

Aerobic Respiration (Cancer)

A chemical process in which oxygen is used to make energy from carbohydrates (sugars). Also known as oxidative metabolism, cell respiration, or aerobic metabolism.

Aerobic Respiration (Huntingtons Disease)

The process in which glucose is converted into CO2 and H2O in the presence of oxygen, releasing large amounts of ATP. This process includes the krebs cycle, electron transport chain, and oxidative phosphorylation.
