Air (Air Quality)

So-called "pure" air is a mixture of gases containing about 78 percent nitrogen; 21 percent oxygen; less than 1 percent of carbon dioxide, argon, and other inert gases; and varying amounts of water vapor

Air (Boiler)

The mixture of oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases, which with varying amounts of water vapor, forms the atmosphere of the earth.

Air (Carpet)

A mixture of gasses constituting a compressed fluid tied to the planet by gravitational attraction. Air is 79% nitrogen, 21.9% oxygen, and less than .1% a mixture of carbon dioxide, argon, helium and hundreds of other gasses originating from natural and manmade sources.

Air (Climatology)

  1. The mixture of gases that surrounds the earth
  2. Mass Thunderstorm- a thunderstorm which forms from localized convection within an unstable air mass (e.g., not along a frontal boundary)

Air (Entertainment Industry)

The Vamp, the Verse, if there is one, and the Chorus (composed of "8s"), ending with the Rideout, constitute the component parts of the printed sheet-music copy. But there is music that exists between the sung lines ("fills") that can be described as the "Air" in the song. If "Air" is recognized as "music without words," the Vamp and Rideout, too, must be listed as "Air" pockets.

Air (Food Industry)

Above the land and sea, our planet is surrounded by a gaseous layer (known as the atmosphere) made up of air. Air consists of a mixture of gases, the most important ones being oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.
See aerobes, anaerobes and oxygen.

Air (Freestyle Skiing)

A jump and flight during which the skier performs acrobatic moves in both moguls and aerials. Two airs are required during each mogul run.

Air (Import Cars)

Air (Newspaper Design)

Air (Sanitation)

The mixture of gases that surrounds the earth and forms its atmosphere, composed primarily of nitrogen and oxygen. It also contains carbon dioxide, some water vapor, argon and traces of other gases.

Air (Skateboard)

Riding with all four wheels off the ground; short for aerial

Air (Weather)

This is considered the mixture of gases that make up the earth's atmosphere. The principal gases that compose dry air are Nitrogen (N2) at 78.09%, Oxygen (O2) at 20.946%, Argon (A) at 0.93%, and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) at 0.033%. One of the most important constituents of air and most important gases in meteorology is water vapor (H2O).
