Alpha Particle

For Alpha Particle we have terms and definitions in 6 topics. The topics are Chemistry, Electric Power, Explosives, Import Cars, Nuclear and Physical Geography.

Alpha Particle (Chemistry)

A cluster of 2 protons and 2 neutrons emitted from a nucleus in one type of radioactivity.

Alpha Particle (Electric Power)

A positively-charged particle from the nucleus of an atom, emitted during radioactive decay. Alpha particles are helium nuclei, with 2 protons and 2 neutrons.

Alpha Particle (Explosives)

A particle emitted in one of the three forms of natural Radioactivity.

Alpha Particle (Import Cars)

A particle that is a by-product of radioactive decay. It has a positive electrical charge that is twice the negative charge of an electron.

Alpha Particle (Nuclear)

The positively charged particle from the nucleus of an atom emitted during radioactive decay. Alpha particles are helium nuclei, with 2 protons and 2 neutrons. To trigger a nuclear explosion, alpha particles are used to change beryllium-9 to beryllium-8 and free neutrons. The neutrons then initiate fission.
