Analogue (Music Technology)

A continuous electrical signal whose amplitude varies with time.


Analogue (Photocopiers)

Analogue is the traditional copier technology, using the “light lens” method to reproduce originals.


Analogue (Photography)

Continuous signals; data presented or collected in continuous form. This data is shown on an instrument that can change constantly. For example, speedometers or thermometers are analog devices. Analog signals can represent many different real-world things, like video, audio, (voice, music) and physiological waveforms (ECG, heartsounds, respiration).


Analogue (Telecommunications)

Analogue refers to signals that can represent an infinite range of numbers, as opposed to digital which can only be distinct whole numbers. Analogue data often comes from measurements, like a sine wave. The sound a modem makes over the phone is analog since it can be any of a number of different frequencies. The fixed-line networks usually transfer analogue data and fax. The GSM networks are Digital.


Analogue (Watches)

Analogue simply refers to the means of showing the time on a watch dial by means of hands which point to the hours, minutes and usually seconds.
