Androgens (Clinical Trials)

A family of hormones that promote the development and maintenance of male sex characteristics.

Androgens (Contraception)

A category of male sex hormones, found in small amounts in women. The main androgen is called testosterone, and the other androgens really just help testosterone to achieve certain results. In men, androgens are necessary for reproductive development. In women, androgens can be responsible for unwanted hair — especially on the face, chin, upper lip, and cheeks. Increased androgens or sensitivity to androgens can also cause acne.

Androgens (Female Health)

Sex hormones found naturally in a woman's body, which is produced by the ovaries, adrenal glands and other tissues. Androgens play a key role in regulating certain bodily functions, including the growth spurt at puberty. It is believed to regulate the function of many organs, including the reproductive tract, kidneys, liver and muscles. During menopause, androgen levels drop by more than 50 percent, which can result in, among other things, a decreased sex drive. Androgen also can promote male characteristics, such as hair formation and a deepening voice.

Androgens (Fertility)

Refers to male reproductive hormones, such as testosterone. These hormones may be produced in excess by the female in certain conditions such as PCOS

Androgens (Hair Loss)

Androgens are often referred to as male hormones.

Androgens (Invitro Fertilization)

Male sex hormones that are present in both men and women but in different quantities and producing different effects.

Androgens (Menopause)

Sex hormones found naturally in a woman's body, which is produced by the ovaries, adrenal glands and other tissues. Androgens play a key role in regulating certain bodily functions, including the growth spurt at puberty. It is believed to regulate the function of many organs, including the reproductive tract, kidneys, liver and muscles. During menopause, androgen levels drop by more than 50 percent, which can result in, among other things, a decreased sex drive. Increased doses of androgen also can promote male characteristics, such as hair formation and a deepening voice.

Androgens (Prostate Cancer)

Male sex hormones produced by the testicles and, in small amounts, by the adrenal glands.

Androgens (Sex)

The "male" sex hormones. Actually produced by women as well (though in smaller quantities and with little absorbtion).
