Angioplasty (Female Health)

A procedure that widens arteries narrowed by arterial disease. A catheter with a tiny deflated balloon is threaded through the narrowed artery to the afflicted part and then inflated to break the plaque and expand the artery.

Angioplasty (Health)

The use of a small balloon on the tip of a catheter inserted into a blood vessel to open up an area of blockage inside the vessel.

Angioplasty (Heart Disease)

To widen the opening of a blocked artery, a balloon-tipped catheter is inserted into the artery. The balloon is inflated to compress (but not remove) plaque. Finally, the balloon is deflated and the catheter is removed.

Angioplasty (Medical)

The use of surgery to make a damaged blood vessel function properly again; may involve widening or reconstructing the blood vessel

The use of a small balloon on the tip of a catheter inserted into a blood vessel to open up an area of blockage inside the vessel.

Procedure whereby a balloon-tipped catheter is passed through a blockage in an artery, and inflated to compress the plaque build-up against the artery wall; thereby, reopening the narrowed artery.
