All measures and legal requirements designed to benefit animals. In Germany, animal welfare has been a “state objective” since August 2002: “The state, also in its responsibility for future generations, protects the natural foundations of life and animals in the framework of the constitutional order, by legislation, and, according to law and justice, through the executive and the courts."
