Anode

For Anode we have terms and definitions in 8 topics. The topics are Batteries, Capacitors, Chemistry, Day Spa, Explosives, Global Warming, Import Cars and Solar Energy.

Anode (Batteries)

The electrode in an electrochemical cell where oxidation takes place. During discharge, the negative electrode of the cell is the anode. During charge, the positive electrode is the anode.

Anode (Capacitors)

An electrode through which current enters any nonmetallic conductor. An electrolytic anode is an electrode at which negative ions are discharged, or positive ions are formed, or at which other oxidizing reactions occur. The positive electrode of a galvanic cell; of an electrolytic capacitor.

Anode (Chemistry)

The electrode where electrons are lost (oxidized) in redox reactions.

Anode (Day Spa)

The positive portion of an electric force

Anode (Explosives)

The positive pole of a direct current device. Opposite Cathode (adj.: anodic).

Anode (Global Warming)

A positive electrode, as in a battery, radio tube, etc.

Anode (Import Cars)

[1] The positively charged electrode in an electrolytic cell toward which current flows.[2] In a fuel cell it is where the fuel reacts or "Oxidizes", and releases electrons.

Anode (Solar Energy)

The positive electrode in an electrochemical cell (battery). Also, the earth or ground in a cathodic protection system. Also, the positive terminal of a diode.
