An atmospheric circulation that rotates clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere, that usually has a diameter of 2000 to 3000 kilometers

Anticyclone (Hurricane)

Anticyclone (Oceanography)

A spiralling mass of air that can extend over a few hundred to a few thousand miles of the Earth's surface. The centre of the spiral is fed by descending air currents which leads to high atmospheric pressure. Anticyclones are generally associated with few clouds and low humidity.

Anticyclone (Physical Geography)

An atmospheric pressure system consisting of an area of high pressure and outward circular surface wind flow. In the Northern Hemisphere winds from an anticyclone blow clockwise, while Southern Hemisphere systems blow counterclockwise.

Anticyclone (Weather)
