Asexual Reproduction

Asexual Reproduction (Botanical)

The process of producing new individuals by vegetative propagation -- for example, using cuttings. All offspring are clones or genetically identical to the parent plant.


Asexual Reproduction (Evolution)

A type of reproduction involving only one parent that ususally produces genetically identical offspring. Asexual reproduction occurs without fertilization or genetic recombination, and may occur by budding, by division of a single cell, or by the breakup of a whole organism into two or more new individuals.


Asexual Reproduction (Oceanography)

A method of reproduction where there is only one parent. A new individual is first formed as a part of the parent, and then splits off to form a separate organism.


Asexual Reproduction (Physical Geography)

Any process of reproduction that does not involve the fusion of gametes.
