Assignee (Auto Lease)

A third party that buys a lease agreement from a lessor. You become obligated to the assignee, and the assignee generally assumes the responsibilities of the lessor, although some obligations may remain with the lessor. For purposes of Regulation M, an assignee may be a lessor when the assignee has substantial involvement in the lease.


Assignee (Entertainment Law)

Person receiving property by assignment.


Assignee (Foreclosure)

The person to whom a transfer of interest is made. Hence an assignee of an Agreement of Purchase and Sale may buy the property and enforce the contract in the same fashion as the original party.


Assignee (Genealogy)

The person to whom a privilege or some property is signed over to by the court


Assignee (Natural Gas)

In law generally a transferee; a recipient of an interest in property or a contract.


Assignee (Patent)

The person(s) or corporate body to whom all or limited rights under a patent are legally transferred. Assignment Transfer of all or limited rights under a patent.
