Back Door (Golf)

The rear of the hole. When a putt goes around the hole and then drops in the back of the cup, it is said to have gone in the back door. Sometimes used as a verb, as in, "He back doored that putt."

A back door (also called a trapdoor) is hidden software or a hardware mechanism that can be triggered to gain access to a program, online service or a computer system. See also Trojan Horse.

Back Door (Technology)

A means of gaining access to a program or system by bypassing its security controls. Programmers often build back doors into systems under development so that they can fixs bugs. If the back door becomes known to anyone other than the programmer, or if it is not removed before the software is released, it becomes a security risk. Also called trapdoor.
