Bulimia Nervosa (Food and Health)

An eating disorder characterized by rapid consumption of a large amount of food in a short period of time, with a sense of lack of control during the episode and self-evaluation unduly influenced by body weight and shape. There are two forms of the condition, purging and non-purging. The first type regularly engages in purging through self-induced vomiting or the excessive use of laxatives or diuretics. Alternatively, the non-purging type controls weight through strict dieting, fasting or excessive exercise.

Bulimia Nervosa (Medical)

Bulimia Nervosa (Mental Health)

Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by excessive eating. People who have bulimia will eat an excessive amount of food in a single episode and almost immediately make themselves vomit or use laxatives or diuretics (water pills) to get rid of the food in their bodies. This behavior often is referred to as the "binge/purge" cycle. Like people with anorexia, people with bulimia have an intense fear of gaining weight.

Bulimia Nervosa (Weight Loss)

An eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating and purging: overeating and then using compensatory behaviors such as vomiting and excessive exercise to prevent weight gain.

Bulimia Nervosa (Women's Health)

An eating disorder caused by a person consuming an extreme amount of food all at once followed by self-induced vomiting or other purging.

Bulimia Nervosa (Womens Health)

An eating disorder caused by a person consuming an extreme amount of food all at once followed by self-induced vomiting or other purging.
