Bushing (Automotive)


A simple suspension bearing that accommodates limited rotary motion, typically made of two coaxial steel tubes bonded to a sleeve of rubber between them. The compliance of the bushing in different directions has a great effect on ride harshness and handling.

A short, externally threaded connector with a smaller size internal thread.

A one-piece sleeve, usually bronze, inserted into a bore to serve as a bearing.

A cylindrical insulator with external ribs on one end usually mounted on a transformer and used to insulate high voltage leads.

A pipe fitting used to join two pipes of different sizes. A bushing is threaded inside and out. Also a cylindrical part used as a lining or guide

Bushing (Remote Control Cars)

A metal "donut" that supports a rotating shaft (like an axle). Most bushings are metal, with most metal bushings made out of something called Bronze Oilite. This is a metal that is permanently lubricated.
