Cardiac Catheterization (Cardiac)

A thin plastic tube, called a catheter, is guided through an artery or vein in the arm or leg and into the heart and the coronary arteries in the heart. The cardiac catheterization test can measure blood pressure and how much oxygen is in the blood and also provide other information about the pumping ability of the heart muscle or for treatment. Diagnostic procedure using a flexible tube, or catheter, that is passed into the heart through a vein or an artery in order to withdraw samples of blood, measure pressures within the heart chambers or vessels, and inject x-ray contrast materials to view the heart

A procedure that provides X-ray images of the heart and arteries supplying the heart with oxygen-rich blood.
