Cirrhosis (Addiction)

Chronic liver disease marked by scarring of liver tissue and eventually liver failure.

Cirrhosis (Alcoholism)

The result of chronic liver disease that causes scarring of the liver and liver dysfunction. This often has many complications, including accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, bleeding disorders, increased pressure in the blood vessels, and confusion or a change in the level of consciousness. Common causes of chronic liver disease in the US include hepatitis C infection and long- term alcohol abuse. Hepatitis C is now the most common reason for liver transplantation in the US. Other causes of cirrhosis include hepatitis B, medications, autoimmune inflammation of the liver, disorders of the drainage system of the liver (the biliary system), and metabolic disorders of iron and copper.

Cirrhosis (Alternative Health)

degenerative changes in the liver which results in fibrosis

Cirrhosis (Cancer)

A type of chronic, progressive liver disease in which liver cells are replaced by scar tissue.

Cirrhosis (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

Progressive disease of the liver, characterized by liver cell damage, scarring of the liver, and abnormal liver architecture and function.

Cirrhosis (Female Health)

The scarring of the liver due to disease or inflammation

Cirrhosis (Gaucher Disease)

Liver disease at an advanced stage with widespread damage to the cells of the liver such that there is loss of liver function and interference with blood flow in the liver.

Cirrhosis (HIV and AIDs)

A liver disease that results in FIBROSIS and nodule formation. It can also cause gastrointestinal problems, JAUNDICE and EDEMA. Although irreversible and a common cause of death, cirrhosis can be controlled with VITAMINS, diuretics and beta blockers. Cirrhosis can be caused by alcoholism, HEPATITIS and an obstruction in BILE flow.

Cirrhosis (Health)

A long-term disease of the liver in which the liver becomes covered with fiber-like tissue and has difficulty removing toxins and poisonous substances from the body. Alcohol, medications, and other substances may build up in the bloodstream and cause problems. Cirrhosis may be a result of scarring and damage from other diseases, such as biliary atresia and alcoholism.

Cirrhosis (Hepatitis B)

A serious liver condition characterized by irreversible scarring of the liver that can lead to liver failure and death. Alcohol and chronic viral hepatitis (such as chronic hepatitis B and C) can cause continuous inflammation of the liver, which can lead to excess scar formation or fibrosis. Scarring results in the loss of liver cells and impairs liver function.

Cirrhosis (Liver, Biliary and Pancreatic Di)

A chronic problem makes it hard for the liver to remove toxins (poisonous substances) from the body. Alcohol, medications, and other substances may build up in the bloodstream and cause problems. Cirrhosis is a result of scarring and damage from other diseases, such as biliary atresia and alcoholism.

Cirrhosis (Microbiology)

Disruption of normal structure of the liver; destruction of liver cells and increase in connective tissue (schistosomiasis).

Cirrhosis (Nutrition)

A chronic liver disease characterized by dense or hardened connective tissue, degenerative changes or alteration in structure.

Cirrhosis (Reproductive Infections)

A disease involving the destruction of liver cells and diminished liver function. Cirrhosis can block blood flow to the liver causing high blood pressure and/or jaundice.

Cirrhosis (Women's Health)

The result of chronic liver disease, where the liver is scarred and no longer functions properly. This causes many complications, including build up of fluid in the abdomen, bleeding disorders, increased pressure in the blood vessels and brain function disorders.

Cirrhosis (Womens Health)

The result of chronic liver disease, where the liver is scarred and no longer functions properly. This causes many complications, including build up of fluid in the abdomen, bleeding disorders, increased pressure in the blood vessels and brain function disorders.
