Coenzyme

For Coenzyme we have terms and definitions in 6 topics. The topics are Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Explosives, Fitness, Huntingtons Disease, Microbiology and Nutrition.

Coenzyme (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

A substance that enhances or is necessary for the action of enzymes. They are generally much smaller than enzymes themselves.

Coenzyme (Explosives)

A coenzyme is any of a group of relatively small organic molecules that assist certain Enzymes in their catalytic functions. Coenzymes participate in chemical reactions catalyzed by enzymes; although often structurally altered in the course of the reaction, the coenzymes are always restored to their original form. Important coenzymes include adenosine triphosphate, important in the transfer of chemical energy, and vitamins, vital to a variety of biochemical reactions in the body, including the Krebs cycle.

Coenzyme (Fitness)

A substance that works with an enzyme to promote the enzyme's activity.

Coenzyme (Huntingtons Disease)

A molecule required for the activity of another enzyme.

Coenzyme (Microbiology)

A low-molecular-weight chemical which participates in an enzymatic reaction by accepting and donating electrons or functional groups. Examples: NDA+, FAD.

Coenzyme (Nutrition)

A substance, usually a vitamin or mineral, that works with an enzyme to enable the enzyme to perform its function in the body. Coenzymes are necessary in the utilization of vitamins and minerals.
