Concurrent Review

Concurrent Review (Employee Benefits)

A procedure by which hospital admissions for elective and emergency treatment are certified at the time of service and by which continued stays are confirmed for medical necessity and level of care.


Concurrent Review (Health Care)

A screening method by which a health care provider reviews a procedure performed or hospital admission authorized by a colleague to assess its necessity.


Concurrent Review (Health Insurance)

A type of utilization review that occurs while treatment is in progress and typically applies to services that continue over a period of time.


Concurrent Review (Insurance)

Review of a procedure or hospital admission made by a health care professional (usually a nurse) other than the individual providing the care.


Concurrent Review (Mental Illness)

Concurrent review is performed simultaneously and on an ongoing basis. MHP follows the treatment as it is occurring and makes medical necessity determinations about the provisions of care while the care is being provided.
