Confucius (Ancestors)

Chinese sage who urged a system of morality and statecraft to bring about peace, stability, and just government in the midst of the warfare and tyranny. Modern scholars base their accounts mainly on the Analects, a collection of sayings and dialogues apparently recorded by ConfuciusÂ’ disciples.


Confucius (Global History)

Western name for the Chinese philosopher Kongzi (551-479 B.C.E.). His doctrine of duty and public service had a great influence on subsequent Chinese thought and served as a code of conduct for government officials.(p. 62)
