For Correlation Coefficient we have terms and definitions in 5 topics. The topics are Finance, Ordination, Paranormal, Physical Geography and Statistics.

Correlation Coefficient (Finance)

A standardized statistical measure of the dependence of two random variables, defined as the covariance divided by the standard deviations of two variables.

Correlation Coefficient (Ordination)

Usually abbreviated r. A number which reflects the strength of the relationship between two variables. It varies between -1 (for a perfect negative relationship) to +1 (for a perfect positive relationship). If variables are standardized to have zero mean and a unit standard deviation, then r will also be the slope of the relationship. The value r2 is known as the coefficient of determination; it varies between 0 and 1. The coefficient of determination is loosely interpreted as "the proportion of variance in y which can be explained by x".

Correlation Coefficient (Paranormal)

A mathematical index of the degree of association between two or more measures.

Correlation Coefficient (Physical Geography)

Statistic that measures the degree of linear association between two variables. Its values vary from between -1 and 1. Perfect positive (the dependent variable increases with an increase in the independent variable) linear association has a correlation coefficient of 1. Perfect negative (the dependent variable decreases with an increase in the independent variable) linear association has a correlation coefficient of -1. Absolutely no association between variables has a value of zero.

Correlation Coefficient (Statistics)

A measure of the degree to which two variables are linearly related.
