Those water uses identified in state water quality standards that must be achieved and maintained as required under the Clean Water Act. Uses can include cold water fisheries, public water supply, and irrigation.

Designated Uses (Sanitation)

Those uses specified by the state water quality standards for each water body or segment, whether or not they are being attained. Uses can include coldwater fisheries, public water supply, agriculture, etc.
