Disqualification (Courtroom)

The condition of having been rendered unfit.


Disqualification (Employee Benefits)

Loss of tax favored or qualified status for a retirement plan. Disqualification is generally viewed as being in the discretion of the Internal Revenue Service based upon either a failure of the plan’s terms or the operation of the plan.


Disqualification (Feline)

A quality that makes a cat ineligible for show. Disqualifications are often mentioned in the breed standard. For example, a Maine Coon with an incorrect number of toes is disqualified from show.

Disqualification (Horse Racing)

A horse is removed from the place he finished and placed lower. For example, a horse may finish first, but interfere with another runner, impeding his chances to win the race. The interfering horse will be "taken down" and placed lower in the order of finish.


Disqualification (Legal)

The removal of a judge from presiding in a case by affidavit of a party to the action. Also, known as EXCUSAL.
