Donor-advised Fund

Donor-advised Fund (Charitable Giving)

A charitable investment plan administered by a nonprofit organization. The Program1 is a donor-advised fund, available through Banc of America Capital Management in conjunction with The National Philanthropic Trust. Donors open an account in a donor-advised fund by making an irrevocable contribution to the fund. The contribution is controlled by the nonprofit administrator, who invests the funds in competitive investment vehicles. Although the donor no longer controls the funds once contributed, he or she can advise the administrator regarding grants to other charitable organizations.
