Elastomer

For Elastomer we have terms and definitions in 10 topics. The topics are Adhesives and Sealants, Construction, Electric Power, Import Cars, Natural Gas, Roofing, Shoes, Textiles, Vibration and Wire.

Elastomer (Adhesives and Sealants)

A synthetic rubber, plastic or other polymer which can be stretched to at least twice its original length then return to its original shape with force. The ability to return to its original shape is called memory.

Elastomer (Construction)

A material capable of elongating at least 100% and recovering its original dimensions.

Elastomer (Electric Power)

A material that at room temperature stretches under low stress to at least twice its length and snaps back to original length upon release of stress.

Elastomer (Import Cars)

1. A synthetic polymer or copolymer that has elastic properties similar to those of rubber. 2. The rubber like compounds used in fuel lines, evaporative canister lines, etc. also used for other automotive applications such as brake lines and transmission lines.

Elastomer (Natural Gas)

A material which at room temperature can be stretched repeatedly to at least twice its original length and upon immediate release of the stress, will return to its approximate original length and shape.

Elastomer (Roofing)

An elastic rubber-like substance, such as natural or synthetic rubber.

Elastomer (Textiles)

A polymer which has high extensibility together with rapid and substantially complete elastic recovery. (See also elastane; elastomeric yarn.

Elastomer (Vibration)

A generic term which encompasses all types of rubber, natural or synthetic. There are numerous families of elastomers. The type of elastomer chosen for any application depends on the environment in which the elastomer will be used.

Elastomer (Wire)

A material that at room temperature returns rapidly to approximately its initial dimensions and shape after substantial deformation by a weak stress and release of the stress.
