Electrolytes

For Electrolytes we have terms and definitions in 15 topics. The topics are Blood and Marrow Transplant, Bodybuilding, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Diet, Dieting, Exercise, Fitness, HIV and AIDs, Health, Horse Health, Naturopathic, Nutrition, Science, Supplements and Weight Loss.

Electrolytes (Blood and Marrow Transplant)

Minerals found in the blood, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, chloride, and magnesium

Electrolytes (Bodybuilding)

Minerals (e.g - sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium) that regulate bodily functions. Small amounts are lost in sweat and need to be replaced through the use of energy drinks like Cytomax.

Electrolytes (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

Substances that dissociate in water to form a cation (positively charged ion) and and anion (negatively charged ion). Charged ions are central to a variety of important processes in the body, including muscle contraction and nerve impulse conduction.

Electrolytes (Diet)

These are mineral salts like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. They are necessary in any diet for healthy nerves and muscle movement. Many people on diets use sports drinks (electrolyte solutions) to top them up, but these can also contain added sugars. Potassium can be depleted by the use of diuretics. (See Above).

Electrolytes (Dieting)

These are mineral salts like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. They are necessary in any diet for healthy nerves and muscle movement. Many people on diets use sports drinks (electrolyte solutions) to top them up, but these can also contain added sugars. Potassium can be depleted by the use of diuretics. (See Above).

Electrolytes (Exercise)

Type of television that uses lenses and mirrors to magnify an image and project it onto the back of a translucent screen.

Electrolytes (Fitness)

Capable of conducting electricity in a solution. Used in many body activities, potassium, sodium and chloride are all forms of electrolytes.

Electrolytes (HIV and AIDs)

Compounds that divide into electrically charged subunits (ions) when dissolved in water. Movement of these ions creates an electrical current. Electrolytes are found in varying amounts in blood PLASMA, tissues and cell fluids. The body must have the correct amount of the main electrolytes, including calcium, potassium and sodium, to maintain proper amounts of intracellular water, conduct nerve signals and allow for proper cellular response to CYTOKINES and other outside stimuli. Electrolyte solutions may be used as treatment to replenish fluids and electrolytes during episodes of dehydration.

Electrolytes (Health)

Chemicals such as salts and minerals needed for various functions in the body.

Electrolytes (Horse Health)

Simple, inorganic salts that act as charged particles in water solutions, i.e., they are able to conduct electricity; examples include sodium, potassium, and chloride

Electrolytes (Naturopathic)

In my context, acids, bases, and salts that contribute to the maintenance of electrical charges, membrane integrity, and acid-alkaline balance in the blood and lymph.

Electrolytes (Nutrition)

Minerals that dissolve in water and carry electrical charges. In your body, potassium, sodium, and chloride are the electrolyte minerals. They are named this because they are capable of conducting electrical impulses. It is the form in which most minerals circulate in the body.

Electrolytes (Science)

Ionized salts in the blood, tissue fluids, and cells, especially ions of sodium, potassium, and chlorine

Electrolytes (Supplements)

Important minerals such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium, that help provide continuity in the passage of fluid through your body.

Electrolytes (Weight Loss)

Minerals such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium that act to keep your nerves firing and muscles moving. These minerals are found in foods (potassium- bananas, meat) and modest amounts of electrolytes are a necessary component of a normal diet. Be careful of using sports drinks to replace minerals because of the added calories
