A taxonomic subdivision of an order, suborder, or superfamily that contains a group of related subfamilies, tribes and genera. Family names always end in -idae.

The category of taxonomic classification between order and genus (see taxon). Organisms within a family share a close similarity; for example, the cat family, Felidae, which includes lions and domestic cats.

One genus or several genera which have a basically similar floral pattern make up a family (i.e. LILLACEAE (lily), IRIDACEAE (iris), ROSACEAE (rose), ORCHIDACEAE (orchid))

A series of hardware or software products that have some properties in common, such as a series of personal computers from the same company, a series of CPU chips from the same manufacturer that all use the same instruction set, or a set of fonts that are intended to be used together, such as Times New Roman. Family (Typography)

A collection of typefaces that are similar in design but vary in style and weight. For example, the Garamond family consists of roman and italic styles as well as regular, semi-bold, and bold weights.
