Fluorescent Lamp

Fluorescent Lamp (Computer Monitor)

A glass tube filled with mercury gas and coated on its inner surface with phosphors. When the gas is charged with an electrical current, radiation is produced which in turn energizes the phosphors, causing the phosphors to glow.


Fluorescent Lamp (Concert Lighting)

A type of lamp which converts UV light into visible light through fluorescence. Fluorescent lamps are one of the least commonly used lamps on stage.

Fluorescent Lamp (Energy)

A tubular electric lamp that is coated on its inner surface with a phosphor and that contains mercury vapor whose bombardment by electrons from the cathode provides ultraviolet light which causes the phosphor to emit visible light either of a selected color or closely approximating daylight.
