Foam (Car Care)

An agglomeration of gas bubbles separated from each other by a thin liquid film which is observed as a persistent phenomenon on the surface of a liquid.

Foam (Car Wash)

Bubbles formed on liquids by the process of agitation.

Foam (Carpet)

A mass of bubbles formed on liquids by agitation (pouring, shaking, stirring, etc.).

Foam (Hunting)

The light-colored substance which is made up of an aggregation of bubbles, formed on the surface of liquids by violent agitation.

Foam (Pool and Spa)

Can result in pools that have used quaternary ammonium compound (QUATS) algaecides. This can be made worse, if there is an air leak in the return line. In spas, body oils can react with the natural alkalinity of the water and form "soaps". Aeration will increase the foaming problem. Anti-Foam products and enzyme products are useful in controlling the problem.

Foam (Sanitation)

(1) A collection of minute bubbles formed on the surface of a liquid by agitation, fermentation and foam producing bacteria in activated sludge such as the nocardia species, etc. (2) The frothy substance composed of an aggregation of bubbles on the surface of liquids and created by violent agitation or by the admission of air bubbles to liquid containing surface-active materials, solid particles or both. Also called froth.

Foam (Surf)

1) The liquid polyethylene material used to mold surfboard blanks, which hardens or cures into a soft but firm foam, and is then shaped by hand. 2) Also the white water of a breaking wave and/or the bubbles left over from a breaking wave.
