Gale Warning

Gale Warning (Hurricane)

A warning of 1-minute sustained surface winds in the range 34 kt (39 mph or 63 km/hr) to 47 kt (54 mph or 87 km/hr) inclusive, either predicted or occurring and not directly associated with tropical cyclones.


Gale Warning (Surf)


A warning when sustained surface winds are reported or forecasted to be in the range of 34 to 47 knots over the water.

Gale Warning (Tropical Storm)

Sustained winds 39-54 miles an hour (34-47 knots) either predicted or occurring. Note: Gale warnings are not normally issued during tropical cyclones.


Gale Warning (Weather)

A warning for marine interests for impending winds from 28 to 47 knots (32 to 54 miles per hour).
