Commonly used term in Genealogy by DNA for the series of DYS STR numbers which are the allele values of the test results of a set of genetic markers of a Y-Chromosome paternal line DNA test. Haplotype (Microbiology)

A particular combination of alleles (alternative forms of genes) or sequence variations that are closely linked Ñ that is, are likely to be inherited together Ñ on the same chromosome. Originally was coined to describe MHC antigens, but now is used to describe RFLP patterns and certain other situations.
