Inclusion

An intentional cultural association, such as grave-goods with a burial.

Inclusion (Education, At-Risk Students)

A process whereby students who are in the special education program enroll in general education classes. The students are officially included on the general education roster and are graded by the general education teacher, while continuing to receive support from the special education teacher (compare with "mainstreaming.")


Inclusion (Education, Gifted Education)

Grouping of students in regular classrooms without regard to ability. It is based on social, not academic concerns.


Inclusion (Educational)

A process whereby students who are in the special education program enroll in general education classes. (Compare with "mainstreaming.") Inclusion is related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which requires that disabled children be educated in the "least restrictive environment" possible.

Inclusion is the process of providing all students with the opportunity to participate in the school community regardless of their individual strengths or limitations.
