Kinase (Huntingtons Disease)

A molecule that phosphorylates, or adds a phosphate group onto, other molecules in the cell in order to turn them on or off. Often used in signaling cascades that tell the cell to carry out certain functions.

Kinase (Microbiology)

A kinase is in general an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to something else. In molecular biology, it has acquired the more specific verbal usage for the transfer onto DNA of a radiolabeled phosphate group. This would be done in order to use the resultant "hot" DNA as a probe.

Kinase (Prostate Cancer)

An enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of a pro-enzyme to an active enzyme
