Lactobacilli (Female Health)

Bacteria that normally live in the vagina and produce lactic acid, which makes the vagina somewhat acidic; this helps control the growth of other bacteria


Lactobacilli (Nutrition)

Any of a number of species of bacteria that are capable of transforming lactose (milk sugar) into lactic acid through fermentation. Lactobacilli are naturally present in the colon, and are sometimes referred to as "friendly" bacteria because they aid in digestion and fight certain disease-causing microorganisms. The two species of lactobacilli most commonly available in supplement form are L. acidophilus and L. bifudus.


Lactobacilli (Sexual Health)

Bacteria present in healthy vaginas of women. They help relieve vaginitis by limiting the growth of candida, a yeast.
