Therapeutic massage manipulates the soft tissue of the body with a series of movements that glide, stroke, tap, pound, shake, compress and/or knead. It may use friction and vibration as well. These movements improve blood flow or circulation and enhance the lymphatic system. This allows increased delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and improves removal of the waste products of the cells. People who receive massage therapy generally feel decreased stress and enhanced mind-body connection. There are numerous types of massage, and many of them are only slightly different from each other.
