Metabolic Syndrome (Cholesterol)

A constellation of conditions that place people at high risk for coronary artery disease. These conditions include type 2 diabetes , obesity , high blood pressure , and a poor lipid profile with elevated LDL ("bad") cholesterol , low HDL ("good") cholesterol, elevated triglycerides . All of these conditions are associated with high blood insulin levels. The fundamental defect in the metabolic syndrome is insulin resistance in both adipose tissue and muscle . Drugs that decrease insulin resistance also usually lower blood pressure and improve the lipid profile.

Metabolic Syndrome (Diabetes)

A combination of health conditions that place a person at high risk for heart disease. These conditions are type 2 diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high levels of fat in the blood), and obesity. According to theory, all of these conditions are associated with high blood insulin levels, and it is claimed that the underlying problem in patients with the Metabolic Syndrome is faulty insulin release from the beta cells of the pancreas.Previously called Syndrome X.

Metabolic Syndrome (Weight Loss)

A medical condition (sometimes called Insulin Resistance or Syndrome X) that is characterized by a cluster of health-related findings that include abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, elevated triglyceride levels, elevated blood sugar levels and below-normal levels of HDL cholesterol.
