Momentum (Coal Power)

The simple difference between the price now and the price N days ago. Momentum is negative if the price now is below the price N days ago, and positive if it is above.


Momentum (Explosives)

Momentum in mechanics is the quantity of Motion of a body. The linear momentum of a body is the product of its mass and velocity. The angular momentum of a body rotating about a point is equal to the product of its mass, its angular velocity, and the square of the distance from the axis of rotation. Both linear and angular momentum of a body or system of bodies are conserved ( Conservation Laws, in physics) if no external force acts on it or them.


Momentum (Finance)

The amount of acceleration of an economic, price, or volume movement. A trader who follows a movement strategy will purchase stocks that have recently risen in price.

Momentum (Political)

The impetus of something that is already moving. In election campaigns, politicians always strive for momentum-a good performance in one presidential primary, for example, will give them momentum going into the next one.


Momentum (Robotics)

The mass of an object multiplied by its velocity. If an object has a high momentum, it is more difficult to change its velocity.
