3 Definitions

N-type semiconductor

For N-type semiconductor we have terms and definitions in 3 topics. The topics are Electric Power, Solar Energy and Transistors.

N-type Semiconductor (Electric Power)

A semiconductor produced by doping an intrinsic semiconductor with an electron-donor impurity (e.g., phosphorous in silicon).

N-type Semiconductor (Solar Energy)

A semiconductor produced by doping an intrinsic semiconductor with an electron-donor impurity (e.g., phosphorus in silicon).

N-type Semiconductor (Transistors)

A semiconductor which has an excess of conduction electrons. A semiconductor can be made into N-type by adding trace amounts of another element to the original semiconductor crystal. Today's transistors all require sections of both N-type and P-type semiconductors.
