Nucleotides

For Nucleotides we have terms and definitions in 4 topics. The topics are Biology, Drug Research, Gerontology and HIV and AIDs.

Nucleotides (Biology)

The components of DNA, consisting of phosphate, a sugar derivative and one of the following bases: adenine, cytosine, guanine, or thymine. They are represented by their initial letters in a nucleotide sequence.

Nucleotides (Drug Research)

The basic building blocks of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). Nucleotides are made up of a nitrogen-containing purine or pyrimidine base linked to a sugar (ribose or deoxyribose) and a phosphate group.

Nucleotides (Gerontology)

Molecules which consist of a purine or pyrimidine base, a ribose or desoxyribose sugar, and a phosphate group.

Nucleotides (HIV and AIDs)

Subunit of DNA or RNA consisting of a nitrogenous base (adenine, guanine, thymine, or cytosine in DNA; adenine, guanine, uracil, or cytosine in RNA), a phosphate molecule, and a sugar molecule (deoxyribose in DNA and ribose in RNA). Thousands of nucleotides are linked to form a DNA or RNA molecule.
