PACE (Athletics)

The rate of covering a specific distance while running or walking.


PACE (Canine)

A lateral gait that tends to promote a rolling motion of the body. The left foreleg and left hind leg advance in unison, then the right foreleg and right hind leg.

PACE (Swimming)

The swimmer swims at a steady speed. Pace is the average speed per length or distance. Thus a swimmer may be swimming at a pace of 1:20 (or one minute twenty seconds) per 100. Usually the pace is expressed in terms of 50 or 100 yards/meters.

PACE (Tennis)

The speed at which the ball is hit. It's commonly used to mean a great deal of speed, but in fact a well-paced shot may be hit rather slowly. A common tactic against a hard-hitting opponent is to vary the pace from one shot to the next.
