AKA a pap smear, this is a procedure used to examine the cells of a womans cervix in order to detect infection, hormonal conditions, and cancerous or pre-cancerous cells. Women should have this test once a year (it's usually a routine part of a gynecological exam) starting at age 18 or when they become sexually active.
