Par Value (Accounting)

is a. the maturity value or face valuei.e.the amount that an issuer agrees to pay at the maturity date; b. the official exchange rate between two countries' currencies; orc. the value of a security that is set by the company issuing it; unrelated to market value.


Par Value (Accounting Terms)

Amount per share set in the ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION of a CORPORATION to be entered in the CAPITAL STOCKS account where it is left permanently and signifies a cushion of EQUITY capital for the protection of CREDITORS.

The principal amount of a bond or note due at maturity.
