This is the malicious activity that the virus performs. Not all viruses have payloads, but there are some that perform destructive actions.


Payload (Information Security)

This is a term used to describe the activity initiated by a virus. Typical virus payloads include displaying a message or deleting files.

The actual weight of cargo being carried, including packaging, etc. (GWN - Unladen weight = payload).
