Platelets become more sticky (form clots easier) when we consume hard or hydrogenated fats, and less sticky (form clots less readily) when we consume Omega-3 fatty acids. Less stick platelets protect against heart attacks and strokes.

A particle found in the bloodstream that binds at the site of a wound to begin the blood clotting process; platelets are formed in bone marrow.
