REACH (Accounting)

in advertisingis the total number of people within a target market that will be reached through an advertising campaign.


REACH (Chlorine)

Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals: the EU chemicals policy. It is expected to require companies that manufacture or import more than one tonne of a chemical per year to register it in a central database managed by the EU chemicals Agency. The policy is described in the EU White Paper “Strategy for a future Chemicals Policy”. More information

REACH (Fish)

A section of stream between two defined points.

REACH (Hunting)

(1) An arm of the ocean extending into the land. (2) A straight section of restricted waterway of considerable extent; may be similar to a narrows, except much longer in extent.

REACH (Interactive Marketing)

1) unique users that visited the site over the course of the reporting period, expressed as a percent of the universe for the demographic category; also called unduplicated audience; 2) the total number of unique users who will be served a given ad.


REACH (Logging)

A steel tube or wood timber or pole connected to the truck and inserted through a tunnel on the trailer. It steers the trailer when loaded and pulls the trailer when empty.

REACH (Marketing)

The number of people or households exposed to a particular advertising media or media schedule during a specified time.


REACH (Media Research)

An audience research term. The number (or percentage) of different people (or households) who see a TV commercial, hear a radio program (etc.) in a defined time period. For example, if a radio station has a weekly reach of 15% of people, that means 15 people in every 100 in the population of the area heard that station at least once in a week. Reach is the same as cumulative audience, but less of a mouthful. 3-plus reach means the number of people who have seen/heard a message 3 or more times. See also incidence.


REACH (Nautical)

A point of sail from about 60° to about 160° off the wind. Reaching consists of "close reaching" (about 60° to 80°), "beam reaching" (about 90°) and "broad reaching" (about 120° to 160°)

REACH (Newspaper)


The number of different persons exposed to a specific media vehicle or schedule at least once. Usually measured over a specific period of time.


REACH (Physical Geography)

An expanse of a stream channel.


REACH (Sailing)

Any point of sailing between close- hauled and running.
