Rebound (Automotive)


The motion of a wheel that extends the suspension. The opposite of jounce.


Rebound (Basketball)

1) A carom of the ball off the backboard after a missed shot. 2) Gaining possession of the ball after it has come off the backboard. As a verb, to get a rebound. See defensive rebound; offensive rebound.


Rebound (Books)

The original binding of the book has been removed and a new binding has been attached and re-sewn. See also rebacked and recased.

A swing to a high level of glucose (sugar) in the blood after having a low level.See also: Somogyi effect.

Rebound (HIV and AIDs)

Increases in viral load above a set limit for a period of time. For example, a person may be rebounding if his or her viral load is <400 copies/mL for several months and subsequently >400 copies/mL at three consecutive clinic visits. These parameters vary among doctors. "Blips" are transient increases.


Rebound (Ice Hockey)

A loose puck that has bounced off the goaltender, the crossbar, or a goal post after a shot.


Rebound (Soccer)

To hit an object (e.g., a goal post) and return to the field of play
