(In recycling) Restoration of materials found in the waste stream to a beneficial use which may be for purposes other than the original use.


Reclamation (Finance)

A claim for the right to return or the right to demand the return of a security that has been previously accepted as a result of bad delivery or other irregularities in the delivery and settlement process.

Reclamation (Frauds and Scams)

The procedure whereby certificates, already delivered to settle a transaction, are returned because they are in non-deliverable form. The party who is affected by the bad delivery may recover any losses incurred.

Reclamation (Ozone Protection)

Reprocessing and upgrading of a recovered controlled substance through such mechanisms as filtering, drying, distillation and chemical treatment in order to restore the substance to a specified standard of performance. Chemical analysis is required to determine that appropriate product specifications are met. It often involves processing off-site at a central facility.


Reclamation (Sanitation)

The operation or process of changing the condition or characteristics of land so that improved utilization can be achieved. This may be accomplished by various means such as irrigation of arid land, application of biosolids, drainage of swamp or waterlogged land, protection from flood menace of land constantly subject to overflow.


Reclamation (Science)

The restoring of disturbed land to some usable state
